It was a very hot day to be showing sheep at the Clonmel Agricultural show. Despite the clouds in the sky the sun which shone down intermittently was baking and melting us into the ground.
I arrived late missing some of the classes but just in time to see the end of the Ewe Lamb class. This was being judged by John Rowlands who kindly came over from Wales to judge all the Zwartbles classes.
The O’Keeffe Family got first, second and third for their ewe lambs.
Limestone Abby won the class, a very smart looking ewe lamb shown by Jim O’Keeffe
Next class was the Ram Lamb class which was won by the O’Keeffe’s with Noel & Teresa Lally in 2nd and 3rd was Breda Horgan
Family photos are a must when you have a prize winning lamb so all Breda’s children wanted to get into the photo.
Next class was the Ram Shearing and upwards this was won by the O’Keeffe’s Limestone Winner.
The Championship was won by the O’Keeffe’s ram lamb Limestone Angus with Noel Lally’s Ewe getting the Reserved Championship.
Newspaper photographer getting her photograph which was in the Irish Independent.
The Championship winning family then had a photograph taken.
Judy Maxwell taking some photographs to go on her Face Book page.
Having arrived late I had missed the shearling ewe class which was won by Jim Croke with his ewe Holmlea Wren he also got the 2nd place with Holmea Wild Rose.
Shearling ewe 3rd went to Noel and Teresa Lally.
After all the showing was done the sheep all got to snooze in the sun for the afternoon.
All the winning owners got their wonderful prizes from Red Mills and Bimed.
Everyone seemed to have a most enjoyable day out despite the melting heat.
