Liam Ó Maonlaí bought the first Zwartbles Travel Rug, which was not suppose to be for sale as it was used as my prop and demo blanket. I even tried to deter him saying it had been in the fields with the sheep used as prop. He just said all the more reason to have that one in particular. I told him that I had ones wrapped beautifully fresh and clean.
He would have none of it and determinedly counted out the €125 for it right there in front of me, so how could I refuse him.
He then wrapped it around himself looking like an Irish Tribal Chieftain of Old
For those of you who don’t know who Liam Ó Maonlaí, he is a very talented well know Irish musician who when picking up almost any instrument can play it singing to your soul. He is the lead singer in a group called “Hot House Flowers” Bono once described Liam as ‘The Best white boy soul singer in the world’
Liam Ó Maonlaí
“I believe the style known as séan nos, carries a sense of the soul of the land and the people who are awake in that land. I feel, when in the company of other cultures, the singing of this style opens a window into what it is that connects us. Every country has it’s own séan nos.’ ‘words particularly English words are not enough. They have been used to lie on a grand scale. They continue to be used to manipulate and confuse. Music has a purpose that remains to be seen. The potential is beyond imagination. “
Liam Ó Maonlaí came to visit me on the farm in August of last year were he also chatted to some of the Zwartbles sheep.
The sheep had no problem welcoming Liam into their flock.
When we started to leave the field Pippy Longstockings became a bit demanding for more of a head scratch and pulled at Liam’s shirt sleeve.
Before Liam left he saw the bumper sticker on the back of my pickup which had been kindly sent to me from a twitter friend in New York City, @Olivelavender He loved it and as I had a few extra, I couldn’t not give him one.
