Sheep 2012 is a major sheep event being held at Teagasc, Mellows Campus, Athenry, Co. Galway on Saturday 30 June 2012 at 10am. With a positive outlook for sheep, it is appropriate that all parties interested in a viable sheep industry come together with the common aim of capitalising on the potential that sheep production offers. While this event is of major interest to all involved in the sheep industry it will also appeal to those with an interest in rural affairs.
Sheep 2012 is the major event in the agricultural calendar for the year and is an event that everyone with a commercial interest in sheep will want to attend.
Attractions on the day will include:-
- Extensive range of commercial exhibitors
- National sheep breed competitions
- Sheep breed displays
- Sheep dog trials
- Demonstration of sheep dog training
- Fencing demonstration
A number of seminars/workshops will also take place on the day. Topics will include:-
- Animal health with current topical issues
- Grassland management
- Sheep breeding
- Marketing and market prospects for lamb
- Complying with regulations
- Health and safety
- Guided visits to the newly established research/demonstration farm
These seminars/workshops will be delivered with involvement of Teagasc, UCD, Sheep Ireland, Bord Bia, the Regional Veterinary Laboratories and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine as well as invited guest speakers.
