When the farrier visits all the horses must be gathered in to have their hoof’s dressed, in human terms they get a pedicure, there are three horses and one pony. This summer I took some photographs of this regular event when the sun was shining and we sought shelter from the heat of the day not the rain pouring out of the heavens.
The first horse up was my four year old filly Vita, an Irish sport horse.
She stood as a good horse should as her hoofs were pared down.
Next was sport horse Ishka a bay six year old mare and the first foal out of the first horse I ever owned.
Mystic was third in line an Irish Draft mare, but she was not only getting her hoofs dressed but was going to get a set of shoes so I could ride her.
Later that evening I go up into the field to see how they are all doing the heat of the day cooling off, the sun has set and the sky’s are clear, a perfect summer evening.
