Today was topping fields before the coming rain. It seems I was 6 hours on the machine, with a break for lunch and a glass of water for me and refueling for the machine.
As always Bodacious helps out with the fill up and needs to inspect the machine before we are allowed to go out to work.
After the fill up and I’m seated ready to go, Mr. B asks for his ride down to the field.
Once down in the fields I have a hard time keeping the sheep from following me through the gates and mixing with the divided flock, ewe lambs with hoggets.
The next field it doesn’t matter so much as it is just the drying ewes and fat hoggets. They get very excited about the possibility of fresh grass on the other side of the gate.
Mow mow mow your grass gently down the field; merrily merrily merrily merrily down the slopes we go.
Well that was fun!!! (NOT!!) sliding down a steep hill sideways with mower going!!!
As the day passes it is time for the evening rounds and Mr. B is ready to help.
The Ram lambs are the first to get their supper and are ready and waiting for their food.
Once the lambs have been fed it’s time to go back to the yard. I walk a little faster than Bodacious so close gates before he catches up so he has to use his cat squeeze, a small gap between the stone wall and the gate post.
All this trotting around after me making sure I do every thing correctly is hot work for a big fluffy cat so a water stop is required.
Once all the animals have been seen to and had their evening meals it is finally my turn.
