About 10 days ago I traveled up to Northern Ireland to collect more pure Zwartbles wool which will be brought down to Cushendale woollen mills where it will be spun into beautiful all natural yarn then woven into Travel Rugs and big cozy bed blankets. I also went to two Zwartbles sheep auctions.
It was a very wet trip North rain and wind blowing as I trundled down narrow wet boreens.
Still in the wet I pasted some wonderful old stone farm buildings.
Due to all the rain it was sad to see some farmers caught short in the middle of their harvest.
Still there could be moments of beautiful contrasting color despite the graying of the land by rain.
There where times when the rain pelted down so heavily sending livestock into what ever cover they could find in the hedgerows.
Finally when I got to my wonderful host for the few days I was staying North of the border I could look out from her kitchen window and see her Zwartbles flock sheltering from the rain watching us in the warm and dry kitchen having a cup of tea.
Over the next few days I saw many Zwartbles sheep and even bought two Zwartbles ewe lambs from the export sale in Dungannon.
I will be posting about the Auctions tomorrow.
